Exploring Dehradun
Dehradun is a beautiful place for the lovers of the journey and not just the destination. It is where you go to escape the fast-paced everyday city life. Yes, it is a pretty popular tourist attraction but it is a place that gives you time to pause.
The entire Dehradun trip was about taking it slow with a focus on the journey. I and Posu travelled from Bhubaneswar to Delhi to meet the rest of the group. And we travelled by train, which I prefer over flights. We fueled up and strolled around in the city before embarking on the train to Deh. Our lovely welcome started with the Dehradun railway station, one of the highest railway stations in India.
Besides the beautiful nature, we also got to interact with some very lovely furry friends of the place. They were very good bois indeed.
Being a hill station, Dehradun is full of gorgeous views of mountains, parks, rivers and more. Starting from the Nag Tibba mountain ranges greeting from the far to Dhanulti Eco park for casual strolls. From cliffs to give you doses of dopamine with a sprinkle of adrenaline to fulfilling trekks to give you a sense of accomplishment. Yes, Dehradun has a lot to offer. From adventures to make your heart race to tranquillity to calm your mind.
And of course, something for your stomach and its accompanying taste buds as well. From spicy north Indian cuisine to hot steamy momos to fancy cafes to local delicacies. Something for everyone… Including some Maggie for the cold.
And more than the attractive destinations, it is about the journey towards them. Dehradun teaches you to truly enjoy the journey. Because there is a lot of it. There’s a lot of walking, climbing up, riding, planning, climbing down, riding, hiking and some more riding. And loving every bit of it.
This trip had one of those moments that brought out my inner child…
